Values

Values are what determine a person or society’s sense of right and wrong, and good and bad. While policemen in our society are ironically often viewed as lazy and corrupt, what they stand for on paper is still the main idea of values – keeping society good and understanding right and wrong.

Social Epidemic

A social epidemic occurs when society has the tendency to catch and feel emotions that are similar to and influenced by others, for example, social depression following 9/11. The photograph above shows a functioning society pre-epidemic (happy and content), and we should consider how their expressions, and styles, would change if there were to be a social epidemic.

Sick Role

A sick role is something very common in Western society, which is basically universal excuse for a person enduring an illness of some sort. In a sick role, a person is catered to – fed, not required to go to school, comforted and given less boundaries. The picture above expresses a person in a clear sick role, wrapped in a blanket, yelping for help.
